Doncaster Dental can advise you on the different option available to replace missing teeth including implants. Today's technology makes it possible to replace lost teeth in such a way that they look, feel and work like natural teeth. Dental implants consist of a synthetic tooth root, usually made of titanium, on top of which a dental implant crown (replacement tooth) is attached. In addition to replacing missing teeth, implants can also be used to secure removable appliances, such as bridges, dentures, and partials. Dental implants are natural looking and provide significantly improved chewing power than previous alternatives.
Are you tired of loose, unstable dentures? The Mini Dental Implant (MDI) System consists of a miniature titanium implant that acts like the root of your tooth and a retaining fixture that is incorporated into the base of your denture. The head of the implant is shaped like a ball, and the retaining fixture acts like a socket that contains a rubber O-ring. The O-ring snaps over the ball when the denture is seated and holds the denture at a predetermined level of force. MDIs can also be used to support crowns and bridges using the F.I.R.S.T. (Fabricated Implant Restorative and Surgical Technique) system. The simple procedure involves the use of a surgically guided template for implant placement and fabricated implant crown restoration(s) to be placed at the time of MDI insertion.
