Meet Kate Jolly – Supporting Exceptional Patient Care

Kate Jolly, Oral Health Therapist

Kate Jolly

Oral Health Therapist

Kate Jolly has been a valued member of the Doncaster Dental team since 2011. Originally from Benalla in regional Victoria, Kate graduated from the University of Melbourne as a qualified Oral Health Therapist and has spent her career building a depth and breadth of experience that is genuinely rare in the field.

Before joining Doncaster Dental, Kate worked across rural and remote areas of Victoria and spent time working with Indigenous communities in the Northern Territory, experiences that shaped her understanding of oral health equity and reinforced her commitment to accessible, patient-centred preventive care. She has worked across both the public and private sectors, giving her a well-rounded perspective on the needs of patients from all walks of life.

Kate’s philosophy is straightforward: prevention will always beat treatment. She is passionate about equipping patients with the knowledge, skills, and motivation to take genuine ownership of their oral health, so they spend less time in the dental chair and more time enjoying a healthy smile.

Kate sees patients from Doncaster, Templestowe, Doncaster East, Balwyn North, Bulleen, Box Hill North, Blackburn North, and surrounding suburbs.

What Is an Oral Health Therapist?

An Oral Health Therapist (OHT) is a university-trained allied health professional registered with the Dental Board of Australia, qualified to provide a range of preventive and clinical dental services independently. At Doncaster Dental, Kate works alongside our dentists, Dr Jamie Do, Dr Brendan Moore, and Dr Raymond Luc, as an integral part of a comprehensive, team-based approach to patient care.

Booking a check-up and clean with Kate is an excellent option for patients seeking thorough preventive care, or for families looking for a patient, experienced practitioner for their children’s appointments.

Areas of Special Interest

Preventive Oral Health — this is the heart of Kate’s clinical work. A professional scale and clean with Kate goes well beyond simply polishing teeth. She conducts thorough gum health assessments, provides detailed personalised oral hygiene instruction, discusses the impact of diet and lifestyle on dental health, and tailors her advice to each individual patient. Her goal is always for patients to leave not just with cleaner teeth, but with a clearer understanding of how to keep them that way.

Kate is experienced in the early identification of tooth decay, gum disease, teeth grinding, and other developing concerns, and works closely with the dentists to ensure any findings are promptly followed up. Patients who attend regularly with Kate consistently benefit from early intervention, smaller treatments, and significantly lower long-term dental costs.

Children’s Dentistry — Kate has a natural warmth and patience with children that makes her one of the most popular members of the Doncaster Dental team for young patients. She creates a calm, reassuring environment from the very first visit, explaining each step in age-appropriate language, never rushing, and always taking care to build a child’s confidence rather than their anxiety.

She sees children from their very first dental visit (recommended from around age one), through to their teenage years, providing check-ups and cleans, fissure sealants, fluoride treatments, and oral hygiene education for both children and their parents. Doncaster Dental bulk-bills eligible children under the Medicare Child Dental Benefits Schedule (CDBS), ask our team about your child’s eligibility when booking.

Teeth Whitening — Kate provides professional teeth whitening consultations and treatments, helping patients achieve a brighter smile safely and effectively. She offers both Zoom in-chair whitening for immediate results and custom take-home whitening kits, and takes the time to assess each patient’s suitability and manage any sensitivity concerns before treatment begins.
