At Doncaster Dental, we offer same-day emergency dental appointments for patients who call before 12:00 PM. Our experienced dental team is equipped to diagnose and treat a wide range of urgent dental problems, relieving your pain and protecting your long-term oral health as quickly as possible.

Severe toothache or dental abscess
Throbbing, persistent tooth pain is often a sign of infection or advanced tooth decay. A dental abscess is a serious bacterial infection that will not resolve on its own and can spread if left untreated. Do not wait.
Chipped, cracked, or broken teeth
A broken tooth may expose the inner pulp of the tooth to bacteria, leading to infection and significant pain. Even if you’re not currently in pain, a badly broken tooth should be assessed promptly.
Knocked-out tooth
A tooth that has been completely knocked out has the best chance of being saved if you reach a dentist within 30–60 minutes. Time is critical call immediately.
Lost filling or crown
A lost filling or crown leaves the tooth vulnerable to sensitivity, pain, and further damage. It should be replaced as soon as possible.
Swelling in the jaw or face
Facial swelling can indicate a spreading dental infection. If swelling is affecting your breathing or swallowing, go directly to your nearest hospital emergency department.
Soft tissue injuries
Lacerations or injuries to the gums, lips, tongue, or cheeks that are bleeding or don’t settle should be assessed by a dentist.
Broken or damaged dentures
A broken denture can affect your ability to eat and speak. Call us to arrange an urgent repair or replacement assessment.
Impacted wisdom tooth pain
Wisdom teeth that are partially erupted can become infected and cause significant swelling, pain, and difficulty opening the mouth.
Take over-the-counter pain relief such as ibuprofen (if suitable for you) and avoid very hot, cold, or sweet foods and drinks, which can aggravate sensitivity. Do not place aspirin directly on the tooth or gum, this can damage the soft tissue. Call Doncaster Dental on (03) 9848 1322 as soon as possible.
Hold the tooth by the crown (the white part), never the root. Rinse it gently with milk or saline, not water, and try to reinsert it into the socket if possible. If reinsertion isn’t possible, place the tooth in a glass of milk or tuck it between your cheek and gum to keep it moist. Call us immediately and get to the practice as fast as you can, the sooner you arrive, the better the chance of saving the tooth.
Rinse your mouth with warm water and apply a cold compress to the outside of the face to reduce swelling if needed.
